Specialist Golf Physio

at Petersfield Physiotherapy & Sports Injury Clinic

The Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) is the world’s leading education and research facility dedicated to the golf swing. Gerry has studied with TPI and is one of a small group of physiotherapists in London and the South East with this specialist expertise to treat golfers.
TPI has studied how stiffness or weakness in a player’s body can affect the golf swing and potentially lead to injury. They have devised a screening process to determine if a golfer’s body is causing swing problems.

Gerry is qualified to perform the screen and to work on a player’s physical limitations from a physiotherapy perspective. These limitations may include a stiff back, hips or shoulders, weak core strength and poor balance. Improving these restrictions will allow the player to swing the club more efficiently and therefore potentially improve their golf!
She works closely with the golf pro at Liphook Golf Club and other golf coaches.

When I signed up to do a TPI screen my immediate thoughts were, “What has this got to do with golf?” However I soon realised that every exercise was directly linked to the golf swing.
Having completed the screen I can immediately see some huge merits which could only benefit my game and I am convinced just about anybody else’s. I failed a good number of the exercises in the screen and yet I am by any standard a very competent golfer. I have to ask myself, how much better could I be if I improved my shortcomings?
I believe that with good technical swing instruction and correct fitness guidance TPI could definitely enhance and optimise your golf game particularly those golfers who have some physical limitations due to age or injury.
There is no doubt in my mind that if you sign up to TPI your game can only improve.
