Plantar Fasciitis

Plantar Fasciitis
The plantar fascia is a thick band of tissue that runs from the heel to the ball of the foot supporting the arch. The fascia can become inflamed with unaccustomed exercise e.g. starting running, wearing hard-soled shoes with poor arch support and having tight Achilles tendons and calf muscles. It causes pain under the heel on walking and is often worse first thing in the morning or after a period of sitting.

What can Petersfield Physio do to help Plantar Fasciitis?

We can show you stretches for the fascia, Achilles tendon and calf muscle. Rolling your foot over a cold rolling pin can reduce the inflammation and stretch the tight fascia. Ultrasound and deep tissue massage can help soften and relax the tissues so that the stretches are more effective.
