Tennis Elbow

Tennis Elbow

Tennis elbow, or lateral epicondylitis, is localised pain on the outside of the elbow. Despite its name it is not only caused by tennis! Additional causes are other racquet sports, repetitive gripping, e.g. using secateurs and overuse or unaccustomed use of the wrist and elbow e.g. prolonged painting.

What can Petersfield Physio do to help Tennis Elbow?

Tennis elbow is notoriously difficult to treat and can last for months. Electrotherapy aims to improve the circulation to the area to speed up the healing process and taping or use of a splint can offload painful structures.  Gentle mobilisations aimed at reducing pain along with targeted strength exercises and stretching can all help to alleviate symptoms.
