Hip Replacement

Hip Replacement
A hip replacement is a common operation that can become necessary when the joint becomes damaged through osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis or following a hip fracture. The damage is often age-related so a hip replacement is usually carried out in older adults. The purpose of a hip replacement is to relieve pain and improve movement, function and quality of life.

What can Petersfield Physio do to help a Hip Replacement?

Before your operation, we can teach you exercises to improve muscle strength and maintain as much movement as possible. Afterwards, many patients lack confidence in their new hip so we can reassure you. We can teach you how to use crutches properly and help restore movement and strength to your new hip joint with stretches, mobilisations and a specific exercise programme.
