Frozen Shoulder

Frozen Shoulder
Frozen Shoulder is also known as Adhesive Capsulitis. The soft capsule around the joint tightens, causing pain and stiffness in the joint, sometimes after trauma but often for no apparent reason. Typically, it goes through 3 phases – the “freezing” phase, which is very painful, the “frozen” phase where movement becomes restricted and the “thawing” phase where the shoulder recovers.

What can Petersfield Physio do to help Frozen Shoulder?

We aim to minimise pain and maintain as much range of movement as possible. We use soft tissue massage to limit muscle spasm, joint mobilisations to reduce pain and increase range of movement in the joint and specific exercises to strengthen the muscles and restore function.
