Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Carpal tunnel syndrome is caused by compression of the median nerve as it passes through the bony area of the wrist called the carpal tunnel. Symptoms include tingling or numbness and sometimes pain in the thumb, index and middle fingers. The symptoms are often worse at night and, although there is frequently no known cause, it can occur following a wrist injury or during pregnancy.

What can Petersfield Physio do to help Carpal Tunnel Syndrome?

A splint may be necessary at night or when performing prolonged, repetitive actions. We can fit and supply splints to rest the wrist while it recovers. Sometimes surgery is necessary and we can give advice on exercises and stretches that will help before and after your operation.
